Express Entry
Express Entry: This method of immigrating to Canada was first introduced in January 2015. This system was developed so that Canada could meet its labour market needs to maintain the long-term economic growth. It is the most popular immigration system offered by the Canadian Immigration.
How does it work: The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria would submit an online profile which is also known as“Expression of Interest (EOI)” under one of the below mentioned qualifying criteria. The candidate would then enter into what’s called the “Express Entry Pool”.
Each candidates’ profiles are ranked against the “Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)”. The candidates with the highest score will be issued an Invitation to Apply for applying their Permanent Residency.
Benefits of Express Entry to the Candidates:
- Immigrate to Canada within 6 months
- A job offer which is not a requirement but is of significant benefit
- It helps secure Canadian Employment
Benefits of Express Entry for Employer:
- Helps them select pre-screened skilled immigrants
- Faster processing so helps them contribute to the Canadian economy
- No Government fees to be paid by the employer unlike in LMIA or International Mobility Program.
a) Federal Skilled Worker Program: This category is for those people, who do not have any prior Canadian work experience and who have not been priorly invited by any Provincial Nomination Program
b) Federal Skilled Trades Program: This category is for the people who are qualified on the basis of being skilled in a particular kind of trade
c) Canadian Experience Class: This category is for the individuals who are already in Canada on a work permit (open or closed) and have a minimum of one year of Canadian Experience in skilled occupations of NOC O, A or B.
Steps to follow for the Express Entry Profile:
a) Create an online Express Entry Profile: Here you would fill out all the details about yourself. This would include your age, education, international experience, Canadian experience, marital status, details of spouse (if applicable).
b) Get the CRS Score: On the basis of whatever information has been entered, you would then be provided a score out of 1200 points. The points are majorly based on these four factors:
- Human Capital Factors
- Spouse or Common-law partner
- Skill Transferability
- Additional Factors
These additional factors are then further taking into considering the following:
- Age
- Educational Qualifications
- Language Skills
- Work Experience
- Adaptability
- Job offers
c) Get an Invitation to Apply: The draws usually happen bi-weekly. The score varies in each draw. The people with the highest score would be invited to apply for Permanent Residency. Even if you do not get invited in a certain number of draws, your profile would be active for a year.
d) Collect the Supporting Documents: After the Invitation to Apply has been issued, the candidate would then have 60 days to submit the complete application with all the required documents. Below is the list of supporting documents :
